Más que un programa una Experiencia para la vida.

Familia Javeriana compartimos con ustedes la experiencia que ha significado para nuestros estudiantes el participar en el Programa de ingles en Reino Unido; que además de contener un gran significado para su formación académica en el aprendizaje del idioma, ha significado el conocer y compartir con nuevas culturas, ya que cada uno de ellos fue asignado a una familia con la cuál compartirán por un mes.

Finalizamos esta gran experiencia con los relatos de Frank Sanchez, Iván López y Carlos Lima

Well, I want to start talking about my experience from the first moment. When Anglo-Continental arrived at our school it was something that caught my attention from the first moment, going to a country that I have never visited and living with a family in a country that is unknown it seemed incredible to me. Despite some problems either visas or other things, the school helped us to overcome these complications. On arrival I realized that not only was going to meet people from other countries, I realized that I was going to meet people from my school that I had never had a chance to speak to before and that is one of the many things that I appreciate from this trip. This was one of the experiences that I will never forget and I owe that to my parents who with effort brought me here and also to the school UEJ that not only opened the doors to the students to improve their English but also opened the doors to an incredible experience that I will appreciate all my life .

(Bueno, quiero empezar a hablar sobre mi experiencia, desde el primer momento. Cuando Anglo-Continental llegó a nuestra escuela, fue algo que me llamó la atención desde el primer momento: ir a un país que nunca había visitado y vivir con una familia en un país desconocido me pareció increíble. A pesar de algunos problemas, ya sea visas u otras cosas, la escuela nos ayudó a superar estas complicaciones. Al llegar me di cuenta de que no solo conocería a personas de otros países, sino que me di cuenta de que iba a conocer gente de mi escuela con la que nunca había tenido la oportunidad de hablar y esa es una de las muchas cosas que aprecio de este viaje.

Esta fue una de las experiencias que nunca olvidaré y se lo debo a mis padres que con esfuerzo me trajeron aquí y también a la escuela UEJ que no solo les abrió las puertas a los estudiantes para mejorar su inglés sino que también les abrió las puertas a una increíble experiencia que apreciaré toda mi vida)

From the moment I arrived at the host family I felt confident and motivated as They explained how things work here, the climates and the people. What I liked was the interest in my opinions and comments about how I felt and if I needed help they came back quickly and also I had respect to achieve goals that I never imagined I could. For example talking With others from different countries and the truth is it is an incredible feeling because apart from improving your english Skill, You also learn very exciting things about their countries and the most important thing for me was the incredible way of anglo continental teachers have be able to improve my English and make me feel comfortable with them to be able to ask if I do not understand something.

I Will really miss this experiences and I recommend to everyone to live this experience, an experience you will never forget.

(Desde el momento en que llegué a la familia de acogida, me sentí seguro y motivado me explicaron cómo funcionan las cosas aquí, los climas y las personas. Lo que me gustó fue el interés que mostraron en mis opiniones y comentarios sobre cómo me sentía y si necesitaba ayuda. Alcance lograr metas que nunca imaginé que podría. Por ejemplo, hablar con otras personas de diferentes países y la verdad es que es una sensación increíble porque además de mejorar tu habilidad en inglés, también aprendes cosas muy emocionantes sobre sus países y lo más importante para mí fue la increíble forma en que los profesores continentales lograron mejorar mi inglés y hacerme sentir cómodo con ellos para poder preguntar si no entiendo algo.

Realmente extrañaré estas experiencias y recomiendo a todos que vivan esta experiencia, una experiencia que nunca olvidarás).

This experience has been really good, not only to enhance our English level but also to teach us how to survive in a different environment without the supervision of our parents, which is a needed skill, especially if you're going to study abroad, even more in an English speaking country.

Everything (or almost everything) has been great; the town is beautiful and safe, the school is also nice, the host families are really cool (or at least mine is). Overall it's a pretty cool experience.

(Esta experiencia ha sido realmente buena, no solo para mejorar nuestro nivel de inglés, sino también para enseñarnos cómo sobrevivir en un entorno diferente sin la supervisión de nuestros padres, que es una habilidad necesaria, especialmente si vas a estudiar en el extranjero, incluso más en un país de habla inglesa. Todo (o casi todo) ha sido genial; la ciudad es hermosa y segura, la escuela también es agradable, las familias anfitrionas son geniales (o al menos la mía lo es). En general, es una experiencia muy buena.)

Anglo experience :

Since the day I was told of this , but even more , since the day they gave me the acceptance card, I have been totally excited and hopeful because it has always been my dream to come to England. Its the great nation that you hear about in movies and tv series , where you read about in books and the news. The great nation you hear about everywhere in this vast world , not only because of English , the universal language that allows millions of people to communicate and share their experiences with people from far away countries , but because of their great achievements across history, because of their relevance in yesterday's and today’s world. Also because of the values that forged a great reputation and leadership, because of what they have for the world and it’s citizens. But now in this letter we shall describe the good and bad experiences, detailing the smiles and the tears as a pivotal component of this trip. We departured from Ecuador on March 24/2018 to Colombia , that country would be the last we would breath of South American air. Then we got on the plane to England , from that point there was no turning back, after many uncomfortable hours on that plane , I heard something , the voice was a slightly low so I opened my eyes , and just at the moment I opened my eyes , I heard a totally dazzling phrase “ welcome to England, we hope you enjoy your stay “. After that I could only think of one thing,” the dream of a lifetime “. When we got out of the plane the airport seemed great , it was very lush , but our fear to speak at first meant we took the wrong way , but we had to push ourselves and talk to someone in the airport and they told us how to get to right way. During our stay in the airport we saw many cultures gathering , there many people from Muslim territories, from America, Asia and from the EU itself , so it was amazing. We were then driven to our respective houses where our host families were waiting for us. When I arrived I was received by Miss Spencer who was going to be my host mother for the next month and her husband Mr Felipe, whose father is Spanish but whose mother is British, they two are great people. Anglo is great , it is a thriving place where many cultures, languages and ideas come together and make something bigger and better through something we all have in common, Learning English, so this has been great we have got to know what it is like to live in England, what it is like to speak English, reply in English, we have got to know what it is like to live in English, all day , all night, and most importantly we have got to know what it is like to be connected to different people and culture by only one thing in common , now we have known what it would be like if the whole world spoke the same language. We have experienced Unity.

(Experiencia Anglo:

Desde el día en que me contaron esto, pero aún más, desde el día en que me dieron la tarjeta de aceptación, he estado totalmente emocionado y lleno de esperanza porque siempre ha sido mi sueño venir a Inglaterra. Es la gran nación de la que escuchas en películas y series de televisión, donde lees en libros y noticias. La gran nación de la que escuchas en este vasto mundo, no solo por el inglés, el idioma universal que permite a millones de personas comunicarse y compartir sus experiencias con personas de países lejanos, sino por sus grandes logros en la historia, debido a su relevancia en el mundo de ayer y de hoy. También debido a los valores que forjaron una gran reputación y liderazgo, debido a lo que tienen para el mundo y sus ciudadanos. Pero ahora en esta carta describiremos las experiencias buenas y malas, detallando las sonrisas y las lágrimas como un componente fundamental de este viaje. Partimos de Ecuador el 24 de marzo de 2018 a Colombia, ese país sería el último aliento de aire sudamericano. Luego subimos al avión a Inglaterra, desde ese momento no hubo vuelta atrás, después de muchas horas incómodas en ese avión, escuché algo, la voz estaba un poco baja, así que abrí los ojos, y justo en el momento en que abrí mis ojos, escuché una frase totalmente deslumbrante "Bienvenido a Inglaterra, esperamos que disfrutes tu estadía". Después de eso, solo pude pensar en una cosa, "el sueño de mi vida". Cuando salimos del avión, el aeropuerto parecía genial, era muy exuberante, pero nuestro miedo a hablar al principio significaba que tomamos el camino equivocado, pero tuvimos que presionarnos y hablar con alguien en el aeropuerto y nos dijeron cómo hacerlo y llegar a la forma correcta. Durante nuestra estadía en el aeropuerto vimos reunirse muchas culturas, había mucha gente de los territorios musulmanes, de América, Asia y de la propia UK, así que fue increíble. Luego nos llevaron a nuestras respectivas casas donde nuestras familias de acogida nos estaban esperando. Cuando llegué, me recibió la señorita Spencer, que iba a ser mi madre anfitriona durante el próximo mes y su esposo, el señor Felipe, cuyo padre es español pero cuya madre es británica, ellos dos son excelentes personas. Anglo es genial, es un lugar próspero donde muchas culturas, idiomas e ideas se unen y hacen algo más grande y mejor a través de algo que todos tenemos en común, aprender inglés, así que esto ha sido genial, tenemos que saber cómo es vivir en Inglaterra, lo que es hablar inglés, responder en inglés, tenemos que saber cómo es vivir en inglés, todo el día, toda la noche, y lo más importante, tenemos que saber cómo es ser conectado con diferentes personas y culturas por una sola cosa en común, ahora hemos entendido cómo sería si todo el mundo hablara el mismo idioma. Hemos experimentado la Unidad.)

Well, i don't have words to explain what am i felling right now here in England, when i arrived in London my mind and body was really excited and cheerful, everything that i saw at the airport made me feel relaxed happy and comforted. When i left Ecuador, i was in the airport lobby waiting for our plane from Colombia, and well in that moment i started to realise that i will be in another continent! I said to my Friend Sahide, who came with me on this amazing trip And i said to her, "If you trust in yourself and you have courage in your mind, your dreams and your hopes will appear in a second" Inmediately, she told me the same, "If you propose anything that you love, do it, just do it make your dreams come true" Here in Bournemouth we have a wonderful life, we have friends from all around the world for example Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Brazil and many others. Here the classes are amazing, the teachers play games with the students, when we have to work in class, the teacher always makes groups and they also make different activities and play games to enjoy and learn English, all the classes and all the projects are really fantastic, we also have activities after school, we can do extra activities with our partners. Here in England the people are very happy and polite, if you need help anybody will come to help you, or will give you what you need. In my host family, i have no words to describe my family they are amazing and really Funny, they always make you feel that you are at home. I don't want to leave this country, i love to walk down the streets with my friends and see the old buildings, please if there is a person reading this, you have to come and visit England, specially here in Bournemouth, you will get in love with this city, and also if you want to learn English.

(Bueno, no tengo palabras para explicar lo qué estoy sintiendo en este momento aquí en Inglaterra, cuando llegué a Londres mi mente y mi cuerpo estaban realmente emocionados y alegres, todo lo que vi en el aeropuerto me hizo sentir feliz y reconfortado. Cuando salí de Ecuador, y cuando estaba en el lobby del aeropuerto esperando nuestro avión desde Colombia, ¡en ese momento comencé a darme cuenta de que estaré en otro continente! Le dije a mi amiga Sahide, que vino conmigo en este increíble viaje: "Si confías en ti mismo y tienes valor en tu mente, tus sueños y tus esperanzas aparecerán en un segundo". Inmediatamente, ella me dijo lo mismo, "Si te propones algo que amas, hazlo, hazlo realidad".

Aquí en Bournemouth tenemos una vida maravillosa, tenemos amigos de todo el mundo, por ejemplo, Corea, China, Arabia Saudita, Italia, Brasil y muchos otros. Aquí las clases son increíbles, los profesores juegan con los estudiantes, cuando trabajamos en clase, el profesor siempre hace grupos y también hacen diferentes actividades y juegan para disfrutar y aprender inglés, todas las clases y todos los proyectos son realmente fantástico, también tenemos actividades después de la escuela, podemos hacer actividades adicionales con nuestros compañeros.

Aquí en Inglaterra la gente es muy feliz y educada, si necesita ayuda, alguien vendrá a y te dará lo que necesita. En mi familia de acogida, no tengo palabras para describir a mi familia, son increíbles y realmente divertidos, siempre me hacen sentir que estás en casa. No quiero irme de este país, me encanta caminar por las calles con mis amigos y ver los viejos edificios, por favor, si hay alguien leyendo esto, tienes que venir a visitar Inglaterra, especialmente aquí en Bournemouth, lo harás. Enamórate de esta ciudad, y también si quieres aprender inglés).

I thought this experience was about studying English, going to school and then getting back to your host home, but after these days I've realized that it is much more than that.

First, I was so nervous about staying with a host family but when I met them they treated me really well, they were kind and friendly. It was such a relief.

Then, my first day of school at Anglo was incredible, the teachers were so nice, they answered all our questions happily and tried to make us feel comfortable.

The best part of the trip was in the afternoon, the conversation club! People from different countries gather together to tell stories about their lives and their experience in the English program. I made really good friends.

Practising the language by talking to people from different cultures, playing games at class or even trying to communicate yourself in a new continent it is the way people should learn.

This is an experience that everyone deserves, not only studying in a classroom, people should go outside and live the language!

(Pensé que esta experiencia era sobre estudiar inglés, ir a la escuela y luego volver a tu hogar de acogida, pero después de estos días me he dado cuenta de que es mucho más que eso.

Primero, estaba tan nerviosa de quedarme con una familia de acogida, pero cuando los conocí me trataron muy bien, fueron amables y atentos. Fue un gran alivio. Entonces, mi primer día de escuela en Anglo fue increíble, los profesores fueron muy amables, respondieron todas nuestras preguntas felizmente y trataron de hacernos sentir cómodos.

La mejor parte del viaje fue por la tarde, ¡el club de conversación! Personas de diferentes países se reúnen para contar historias sobre sus vidas y su experiencia en el programa de inglés. Hice muy buenos amigos. Practicar el idioma hablando con personas de diferentes culturas, jugando juegos en clase o incluso tratando de comunicarse en un nuevo continente es la forma en que las personas deberían aprender.

¡Esta es una experiencia que todos merecen, no solo estudiando en un aula, la gente debería salir y vivir el idioma!)

Being in another country is an experience that everyone should live. Since the day I was told about this trip to England, I have been feeling quite excited.

I'm learning in different ways, for example staying with my host family helped me to learn new vocabulary. They have been way too nice to me! I feel at home even though I am on another continent.

(Estar en otro país es una experiencia que todos deberían vivir. Desde el día en que me informaron sobre este viaje a Inglaterra, me he sentido bastante emocionada.

Estoy aprendiendo de diferentes maneras, por ejemplo, la estancia con mi familia anfitriona me ayudó a aprender vocabulario nuevo. ¡Han sido demasiado amables conmigo! Me siento como en casa aunque estoy en otro continente).
